Heavy Music Awards 2022 Winners Announced

The winners of the sixth annual Heavy Music Awards have been unveiled at a blistering, sold out ceremony at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town, featuring live performances by Beartooth, Holding Absence, Meet Me @ The Altar and Static Dress.

The big winners on the night were Brighton’s Architects, who took home Best Album for their UK number one LP ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’, as well as Best UK Artist, regaining the trophy from Bring Me The Horizon who’d enjoyed three consecutive successes in the category from 2019 to 2021.

Fast-rising crossover artist Cassyette claimed the Best UK Breakthrough Artist, while Enter Shikari were successful as Best Live Artist, an award they first took home at the inaugural HMAs in 2017.

Germany’s Electric Callboy were unquestionably one of the most popular winners with the capacity crowd as they grabbed Best Video for ‘Pump It’, making them the second German act to win an HMA after Rammstein in 2020.

Continuing their staggering run of HMAs success, Bring Me The Horizon topped off a week in which they staged their huge Malta weekender by taking out Best Single for ‘DiE4u.’

Elsewhere, On Wednesdays We Wear Black picked up Best Podcast, Mathieu Nozières' epic composition earned Best Album Artwork for Trivium's ‘In The Court Of The Dragon’, and the combination of Carl Bown and Bullet For My Valentine was awarded Best Production for the band’s self-titled effort.

In the international categories, Beartooth claimed Best International Artist - and left nobody in any doubt as to their credentials with a thunderous set to close out the show - while KennyHoopla continued his rapid ascent with the Best International Breakthrough Artist gong.

In the two categories not voted for by the public, While She Sleeps were awarded the inaugural Innovation Award for the spectacular success of their Sleeps Society platform, while the previously announced recipient if The H, Heavy Metal Truants, took the stage to a rapturous reception after a huge fundraising effort which has seen them now donate over £1m to charity.
